Small Arizona Backyard Enhanced
At the mention of Arizona, most people think of hot weather. With local summer averages of 110°F, these homeowners decided to create a mini oasis in their own backyard. They wanted a space where they could relax and entertain outdoors and Mike Trail designed it for them.
This was a complete backyard remodel. They wanted a custom spa with varying depths and premium therapy heads. Also incorporated in the backyard is a custom Ramada with an outdoor kitchen and BBQ area underneath. Because nights are often the most comfortable time to enjoy the outdoors in Chandler, Mike included an over-sized fire pit with blue fire glass. The square shaped fire pit, which was constructed with masonry block, stacked stone and bullnose travertine caps, echoes the style of the raised spa.
Premium gas tiki torches surround the rock waterfall for additional ambiance. They also overlaid the existing covered patio with brick pavers to increase aesthetic value. This project also included a side yard putting green and replaced the sod grass with artificial turf to decrease the water bill.
The swimming pool is definitely the focal point of this landscape. It has a free-form design and features a raised spa with a spillway and a baja shelf. The organic shape of the pool helps to soften the rectangular footprint of the yard.
