Extreme Backyard – Custom Lazy River Swimming Pool
Today, it is not uncommon to find backyards which include custom pools, outdoor kitchens, luxury outdoor furniture, putting greens, tennis courts, and even a private water park complete with kid-approved waterslides and lazy rivers. This Lazy River Project in Gilbert rivals the best showcased by popular amusement parks and luxury resorts.
Before developing this cutting-edge recreational space, the homeowners had to consider all that was required to create their dream backyard oasis. Working with the talented and skilled designer/engineer, Chris Griffin the owner of UNIQUE Companies, was a vital first step in realizing their long-awaited dream. They wanted an elaborate, resort style backyard and with over an acre of property, there was plenty of space to make this dream a reality. Designing the amazing 120 foot lazy river pool was the best way to take full advantage of their expansive backyard. The engineering and hydraulics required to design this pool were challenging and complicated. But with Chris’s experience, degree in engineering and help from our vendors, the team was able to ensure that the pool had the proper equipment and horse power to move the water around to create a slow moving current with ease. Another intricate but fun design feature of the pool are the deck jets and water features which spray into the pool and land on whoever is floating by to cool them off.
The patio area was extended to include an outdoor kitchen and BBQ with a pergola to shade the area. On the other side of the backyard, a large Ramada was built with a small casita and bathroom inside. Under the Ramada is a cozy seating area to watch TV and enjoy the warmth of the fireplace. In the middle of the lazy river pool is an island with artificial grass and beautiful plants and flowers which add a pop of color to the backyard and help to create the feel of a true oasis. Also on the island is a large spa with therapy jets and a beautiful travertine step spillway. A 12 foot bridge provides foot access to the island for those who are not interested in making their way across the pool to gain access to the spa. The bridge is custom made from iron and composite decking. The main focal point of the backyard and the pool is the 800 square foot rock waterfall. This backyard is truly amazing and UNIQUE. It is like having your very own water park in your backyard.
