Having a pool is great but what if you had the option to add a little something more to it to make your outdoor oasis even more fun, more relaxing and more suitable for your lifestyle? Items like swim-up bars, built-in tables, and tanning ledges transform ordinary and dated pools into trendy and entertaining hotspots. Below are some of the coolest interior features for pools today that you may want to consider incorporating into your own pool:
Baja Shelf
Whether you plan to lay on the ledge directly or pull your deck chair right on in, a tanning edge is the ideal place to catch the best rays possible while staying cool. It is typically 5-8 inches deep and is situated at the perimeter of the pool. In some designs, the baja shelf (or tanning ledge) is placed near the deep end of the pool so kids can jump off it and so adults can comfortably supervise.
Swim Up Bar
Give your pool the ultimate party amenity: a swim-up bar in the pool. Bathers can swim up to an underwater stool and enjoy company without having to leave the water. In some designs, the swim-up bar offers a “dry” side (the dry side must be lower than the pool’s bond beam) where the drink mixer and other guests can co-mingle without getting wet.
Grotto/Caves
Avoid the sun while remaining cool with a custom cave or grotto design. Typically created from artificial rock and provides a sheltered cove. It is usually designed in conjunction with a waterfall or sometimes a slide, providing a sanctuary or retreat for swimmers, or a fort-like structure for kids.
Underwater Benches and Tables
Sipping on an ice cold glass of lemonade while cooling off from the Phoenix summers is a breeze with an in-pool table. Umbrella holders can also be installed in underwater tables so the area can be shaded.
